I am guessing that Lewis was the father of Nancy.
On the 1880 census Nancy is listed with Lewis' father Henry, and shown as Henry's granddaughter. None of his other sons appear to have had a daughter Nancy.
Lewis married in 1872, but I can't find him anywhere on the 1880 or 1900 census.
I think Lewis married and had Nancy, then he and his wife died and Henry raised Nancy.
I may be wrong about this, though. A RootsWeb entry says that Nancy's mother was named Ann. I don't
know of any of Henry's sons marrying an Ann. Henry did have a daughter Ann, though. Is Nancy an
illegitimate daughter of Ann?
