Isaac Lane
Location: Middletown
Invt. L1880-09-02. Taken 28 February 1745, by Nathaniel Gilbert, Jonathan Allin and William Rockwell. Will date 15 December 1744.
I, Isaac Lane of Middletown, in the County of Hartford, do make this my last will and testament:
Imprimis: I give to my wife Elizabeth Lane 1/3 part of all my personal estate (except my apparrel) after my just debts and funeral charges are paid out of it, to be at her dispose; and the improvement of 1/3 part of my buildings and half an acre adjoining, to lye in convenient form, so long as she continues my widow and see cause to dwell in my house; but if she shall marry after my decease or shall leave my house, my will is that she then quit her right to any of my real estate.
I give to my four sons, Nathaniel, Cornelius, Zacheus, and Ashbell, all my lands, part whereof I have already given by deed of gift to two of my sons, namely, Nathaniel and Cornelius, which shall be accounted to them as so much of their part of my estate.
I give to my youngest son Ashbell all my buildings and all my apparrel more than to my other children.
I give to my three daughters, Mary, Mindwell and Hannah, the other 2/3 of all my personal estate (except my apparrel).
And further, my will is that my two daughters, Mindwell and Hannah, shall have liberty to dwell in my house so longs as they shall remain single.
And I appoint my two eldest sons, Nathaniel Lane and Cornelius Lane, as executors.
