He was born between 1785 and 1794. Since he had a child in 1812, it was probably at the early part of that span.

Were both Revel and Edmund his children? Only one male of the appropriate age appears with them on the census.
A biography of son John mentions Edmund, but not Revel. It also says Oldham and Sarah had 8 children. It has a few errors in it, though.
If Revel wasn't Oldham's son, he would have to be son of Oldham's brother Russell. Russell did have a son about Revel's age, but the son is with his widowed mother in Hamilton Co OH on the 1840 census.
