Source: Thomas Jordan Family by Elizabeth Jordan Miller
--
Parents Nathaniel Cookson and Mary Hogg from Cookson genforum.
This is wrong, though. Documents prove that Nathaniel and Mary were born and died in Richmond, Yorkshire, England, and had 8 children, 6 of whom died young. The other two were Mary, who married William Lindsay and remained in England, and Thomas c1709, who came to PA, married three times (J Margaretha (unk), Mary Thompson, and Mary Margaret Gibson), and had two daughters.
--
There is a Joseph Cookson on the list of taxables in Chester Co in 1693.

This page mentions that Joseph Cookson of Chester Co PA was on 1685-01 ("first and second days of first week, Tenth month, 1684" old-style) fined for "taking a wife contrary to the good and wholesome laws of this province". Custom at the time required intention of marriage to be posted a month in advance, and at least 12 persons and a Justice of the Peace to be present at the time of marriage. I don't know which of these Joseph didn't follow.
